Maryland Rye Whiskey was acknowledged as full-bodied yet incredibly smoother than other regional rye styles, and Sagamore Spirit has chosen up the torch. Its straight rye whiskies have made more than 75 awards internationally, counting "World's Best Rye Whiskey" in 2019 at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. 

Sagamore Spirit's distillation team mixes two different rye mash bills – a high rye and a low rye – and then enhances pure Maryland limestone-filtered spring water, conveyed 22 miles from Sagamore Farm, to craft the product's Signature 83-proof Maryland-style Rye Whiskey.

There are no shortcuts here, no dilutions or modifications, and just a splash of Sagamore Farm spring water and a time-honored custom of patience & purpose. It's a bold American whiskey, ignition in color and flavor.

 With a remarkably approachable spice at 112 proof, Cask Strength is a proud winner of Double Gold from the admired San Francisco World Spirits Competition. This spirit is best relished slowly, be it neat, on the rocks, or in a typical cocktail.

The aromatic notes of the Sagamore Spirit Rye are noticeably herbal, with intimations of dill and mint. There's somewhat woodsy about this whiskey, and note that's "woodsy" rather than "woody"—fewer oak barrels, and more "piney/grassy" notes, with roughly cedar cigar box in there as well. There's also plenty of rye grain and intimations of baking spice, with caramel, cinnamon, and booze that is somewhat more assertive than you would have expected from the 83 proof.

On the taste, this is an exciting combination of different essentials. Caramel/brown sugar and rye bread lead off, with black & pink peppercorn spice, and the same sort of grassy, "green" charm you will get on the nose.
