Description:

Nikka Miyagikyo is a very famous light-bodied yet flavorful Japanese SingleMalt made in the Miyagikyo distillery. Nikka has already made a reputation for itself that doesn’t need any introduction, And with Miyagikyo, it has hit it out of the park yet again. This lively concoction with a sherry oak character is what makes people turn their heads with its soft fruity experience.

On the nose, it starts off intense and rich with sequential development of Malted barley flavors accompanied by banana, liquorice, and camphor. The aromas are packed with flavor that appears later on like burnt wood and ash. When they settle, notes of white flowers and beeswax can be detected. The tongue also experiences a carousel of tastes that are firm and lively at the same time.

The soul of the drink is malted barley which is further blanketed in liquorice, herbs, ginger, chocolate, and cinnamon. Tobacco leaves also make an entrance mid-palate and leave you refreshed. This power-packed drink possesses a long and soft finish with an essence of wilted roses and fine tannins that balance the tang in it.

The legendary reputation of Nikka makes it obvious that all its spirits will have fine taste and consequently be worthy of recognition. So staying true to its tradition, Miyagikyo has been on the receiving end of many awards and distinctions year after year. The World Whiskies Awards awarded it as the Best Japanese Whisky (No Age) in the years 2012, 2013, and 2015 as well! In 2016, they again awarded it with a silver in 2016 and a Bronze again in 2021.

Like any decent Japanese Whisky, You can try Nikka Miyagikyo neat, on the rocks, or consume it with equal ratios of whisky and water, or as people call it twice up. You must try it in a highball, or if you’re not a fan of carbonated blends in your whisky, try Mizuwari which is essentially a highball with water and whisky proportions instead of the unnecessary carbonation. So get this delicious spirit and spend a cozy night-in with good company!
