Cù Bòcan Creation 2 (Japanese Shochu & European Virgin Cask) 70cl
Brand: Cù Bòcan (Tomatin Distillery) | Category: Lightly Peated Highland Single Malt | ABV: 46% | Origin: Scotland | Vol: 700ml

Tasting Profile
Nose: A mix of incense and orchard, gentle peat smoke swirls with baked pear, green apple, and sweet barley. There’s a clean, mineral edge, like fresh spring water.
Palate: Silky and intricate. Notes of honeyed rice cake, lemon zest, and nougat glide across the tongue, layered with soft wood tannins and subtle spice from the virgin oak.
Finish: Long and clean with a rising herbal note, think lemongrass, white pepper, and faint peat lingering like a fading echo.

Production Details
Distilled only in the winter at the Tomatin Distillery, Cù Bòcan is lightly peated and produced in small quantities. For Creation 2, the whisky is finished in rare Japanese Shochu casks, a first for Scotch, adding a mellow sweetness and umami twist, then layered with bold structure from European virgin oak. Non-chill filtered and natural color.

Perfect For
This is a whisky for quiet contemplation or creative bursts, something to sip slowly while sketching, reading, or letting music fill the room. It invites stillness and thought.

Expert Notes
Critics praise Creation 2 for its innovation and restraint, combining Eastern and Western cask influences without overpowering the malt. A thoughtful, elegant expression that stands apart in a world of bolder peat.

Customer Reviews
"Peat usually isn’t my thing, but this felt... different. Softer. More poetic somehow."   Alex
"It’s not trying to be flashy. Just smooth layers of flavor that unfold gently. Really beautiful."   Joan
"Loved the rice and citrus vibe. Like a gentle handshake between Japan and Scotland."   Emil

Interesting Fact
Cù Bòcan is named after a mythical Highland hellhound said to haunt the village of Tomatin, seen only once every generation. Much like the whisky itself, it’s elusive, mysterious, and unforgettable.

Serving Suggestions
Try it neat in a tulip glass to capture the subtle aromatics. A few drops of water coax out more sweetness and fruit, especially the Shochu influence. Pairs well with sushi, white chocolate, or silence.

Distillery Background
Cù Bòcan is the experimental side of Tomatin, one of the Highlands' most respected distilleries. Unlike their classic unpeated releases, this range explores subtle peat and uncommon cask finishes. The Creation series, in particular, lets the distillers dream and Creation 2 is proof of what happens when that dream crosses continents.
