Description:

I haven't studied the market for blended malt whisky much, nor do I own much of it. It's not the kind of Scotch I often find in my neighborhood supermarket or specialty liquor stores. Budget blends are widely available and sell at a fair price. They won't, in my opinion, add much engagement or grip when we pour a dram, though.

At first smell, it is quite bright, loud, and powerful. I imagine some youth is first coming through on the nose. It reminds me of my wife's nail polish remover. Citrus in the form of an orange and a tiny amount of lemon may be seen as it settles.

Some shortbread biscuits are topped with icing sugar and served with vanilla and honey. There's a hint of toasted oak. also a little malty. It is really spirit-driven. There is a faint hint of clove as well.

It genuinely tastes as if someone gave me a hot whiskey as they were attempting to get rid of a bothersome head cold. A drop of water is added, and the overpowering vapor slightly subsides. More of the lemon and sweet malt are audible. There hasn't been much else to modify.

Again, the first sip immediately hits you with its brightness and spirit-forward nature. On the tip of my tongue, tingly hot and quite astringent. Overall, a pleasant, light mouthfeel.

Although the flavor lingers only a little bit, its youth gradually wears off. After taking a sip, I can still detect a significant amount of alcohol vapor. It completes the picture and adds some of that flavor. The taste is consistent with the aroma of oak and vanilla.

There are also some pear drop candies hiding there. I'd advise using some of that French oak in this area. Reminds me of a French Oak-based Glenlivet Nádurra I once drank. a whisky that is very new. That bright orange flash again. It surprises me that some of the meatiness and richness of Dailuaine and Clynelish isn't tasted.

The flavor was flattened by a drop of water. The tongue feels quite thin now, and the flavor deteriorates rapidly.

It's OK. Really nothing to make a fuss over. I didn't have to give each note much thought as I sipped a few drams of this and appreciated it.

A fantastic aperitif whisky served with water or ice, according to the recommendation. A fantastic mixer for cocktails. A fantastic complement to many cheese. Fair enough; perhaps I'll give it a shot with a cheese board around the holidays.
