A fistful of Islay in every bottle. Big Peat brings together some of the island’s most legendary single malts, including Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore, and the rare Port Ellen, into one unapologetically smoky, sea sprayed dram.

Big Peat – Small Batch Islay Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Brand: Douglas Laing | Category: Islay Blended Malt | ABV: 46% | Origin: Scotland | Vol: 700ml

Tasting Profile
Nose: Bonfire embers, smoked bacon, and damp rope, with a sweet note of lemon peel and malt.
Palate: Powerful but balanced. Ashy peat, tarred wood, sea salt, and charred citrus with a flash of black pepper.
Finish: Long, smoky, and dry, a slow fade of coastal brine and burnt sugar that won’t let go.

Production Details
A vatting of 100% Islay single malts, with no grain, no chill-filtration, and zero added color. Bottled at 46% for texture and punch. Each batch is blended in limited quantities, allowing the peat to stay raw, loud, and proud.

Perfect For
Peatheads, collectors, or anyone who thinks Lagavulin isn’t smoky enough. This is the dram you pour when the playlist goes post-rock and the windows fog up.

Expert Notes
Big Peat isn’t trying to be polished and that’s why it works. It’s honest, rugged, and full of character. A cult favorite among smoke lovers and bartenders alike for its consistency and flair.

Customer Reviews
🗨 “Pure smoke and sea, it’s like drinking an Islay barbecue.”
🗨 “Rough, ready, and addictive. The Port Ellen touch is subtle but thrilling.”
🗨 “The label looks fun, but the whisky is serious.”

Interesting Fact
Big Peat is one of the few modern bottlings that openly includes Port Ellen, a closed distillery with cult status, in its blend. That’s not just hype, that’s history.

Serving Suggestions
Neat by a crackling fire, or with a splash of cool water to open the salty citrus. For the daring: try it in a smoky Old Fashioned with burnt rosemary.

Distillery Background
As part of Douglas Laing’s “Remarkable Regional Malts” lineup, Big Peat is the Islay rebel, rough round the edges, intensely flavorful, and deeply respected. It’s a whisky that roars louder than its bottle size suggests.
