Miyagikyo is often praised as the softer, more graceful counterpart to Nikkaâs Yoichi. This expression is perfect for those who enjoy complexity without heaviness.

Nikka founder Masataka Taketsuru built the Miyagikyo Distillery in 1969 in a misty, river-surrounded valley in Sendai. He chose the location for its pristine water and humidity, ideal for producing a delicate and refined whisky style.
Best enjoyed neat or with a splash of cool water
Excellent for blind tastings and educational sessions
Pairs well with fruit-based desserts or soft cheeses
Located in the mountainous Miyagi Prefecture, Miyagikyo Distillery is Nikkaâs second distillery and complements the robust style of Yoichi. Its pot stills are larger and use indirect steam heat, producing a gentler spirit. Miyagikyo whiskies are known for their balance, elegance, and subtle complexityâhallmarks of Japanese craftsmanship.
