Description:
Aberlour Abunadh Batch No. 67 is an unusual Scotch whisky. While it carries no age statement, each bottle carries a unique batch number. It is released in limited-run batches ranging from one to as many as five per year, with the first batch released in 1997. The Speyside distillery wanted to pay tribute to the old tradition of 19th century Scotch whisky. Hence the name "A'Bunadh", the origin in Gaelic. A blend of whiskies aged between 5 and 25 years in oloroso sherry casks, this single malt is bottled raw to preserve the full flavor of this sherry bomb.
On the nose, this A'Bunadh is very elegant. The sherry is light, with discreet nutty notes accompanying the plum and cocoa. A burnt aspect is associated with this palette, as well as rubber. Caramel fudge and brown tobacco, and used wood are also well represented. A few drops of water will open this chest. The greengage plum, fresh but also in jam, adds a very pleasant sweetness.
Overall: Sweet and dry sherry notes. Bitter cocoa is there. Very long finish. Has some crispy citrus notes as well.
