A single grain from the Tweeddale range that is 27 years old! Even though Tweedale whiskies are frequently combined (and very nice ones, too! ), they have opted to provide us a brief overview of the blend's history. The locals of Tweeddale should bottle up some of the single grain that was usually used in its early 1900s manufacture from a long-gone distillery, it seems only fitting.

So, from what distillery is it? Cambus! The tragically shut down Cambus distillery in Alloa used two former bourbon barrels to create this 27-year-old single-grain whiskey. This expression was only available in 564 bottles.

R&B Distillers, a Scottish company, are currently highly active. The Isle of Raasay distillery was just recently established on a little island situated halfway between the Scottish mainland and the Isle of Skye. A new distillery has also been built in the Borders region of this whisky-producing nation, and it has presented a 27-year-old expression under the Tweeddale label that goes along with it.

According to those behind it, the Tweeddale Silent Character 27-Year-Old is a vatting of two former bourbon casks obtained from the Cambus single-grain distillery. This distillery, which was founded in 1836, was once considered to produce some of the best grain whiskies for mixing.

This particular bottling gets its name from the fact that it stopped producing whisky in 1993 and changed into a "silent distillery."

In the early 1900s, this whiskey, which was bottled at 52% alcohol by volume, is recognized as one of the most trustworthy sources for the Tweeddale recipes. Alasdair Day, a co-founder of R&B, is associated with the term Tweeddale because his great-first grandfather's small batch of blended Scotch carried that name.

Tweeddale Silent Character will reportedly only be sold in less than 500 bottles worldwide. A few official tasting notes are provided below for your consideration. On the nose, it has a deep, sweet perfume that includes notes of peach pastry, lemon, and lime, then honey and caramel. It has a peppery cognac flavor and traces of pear on the palate. The final finish is robust, with a mineral composition and a little grassy note.
