About this product

Distilled from wild harvested Cuishe agave, tall, slender, and grown in the rugged hills of Oaxaca, this mezcal is smoky, spicy, and vibrantly alive. Rey Campero doesn’t smooth the edges; it lets the agave speak, raw and reverent.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Profile
Nose: Herbal and earthy, pine, eucalyptus, peppercorn, and clay oven smoke rise immediately, with a vegetal undertone.
Palate: Bright and textured. Notes of green chili, lime skin, wild herbs, and dry cacao swirl through bold minerality and clean smoke.
Finish: Long and spicy, wood embers, pepper, and agave sweetness fade into a dry, mineral-rich close.

Serving Suggestions
Always neat, in a copita or clay vessel. No garnish, no ice, just time, air, and attention. For pairings, try with salty Oaxacan cheese or 70% dark chocolate.

Product Details

Rey Campero Cuishe Mezcal
Brand: Rey Campero | Category: Artisanal Mezcal (Cuishe Agave) | ABV: 48% | Origin: Oaxaca, Mexico | Vol: 700ml

Production Details
Made from 100% wild Cuishe agave, a slow-growing species that takes 12 - 15 years to mature. Roasted underground, crushed by tahona, naturally fermented in open air, and double-distilled in copper, all by the hands of maestro mezcalero Romulo Sanchez Parada. Small batch. Zero additives. Just tradition and terroir.

Background & Facts

Interesting Fact
Cuishe agave grows straight out of the ground like a thick stalk, unlike the rosette shape of most agaves. Its tough structure makes it harder to harvest but yields mezcal that’s herbaceous, dry, and explosively aromatic.

Distillery Background
Rey Campero, meaning “King of the Countryside”, is a family run producer based in Candelaria Yegolé, Oaxaca. Led by Romulo Sanchez Parada, they are renowned for preserving wild agave distillation traditions, showcasing some of the most expressive small batch mezcals in the world.
