Bottle size: 70cl
The whisky was offered to us as a sample by the Macallan 15-year-old double cask 70cl. It is in no way, per the reviews of the product, affecting the outcome of this review.
This rigorous form of quality control has resulted in reliably consistent whisky offerings. However, in the latest batch of 15-year-old Double Cask (in view of this description), you will see some amazing notes of flavors that have been introduced, that can be credited to sherry cask management.
The tasting notes of the Macallan double cask 15 years old are outstandingly nutty yet full of aromatic favors that stay for long on the tongue once tasted. The drink has been aged 15 years, along with the 43% ABV (86 proof).
The natural color of the drink makes it even unique as it has a beautiful blend of colors coming altogether from the various spices that give the excellently polished mahogany.
The aroma of the drink is full of fruity compote, toffee, vanilla bean, pie crust, Asian pear, Manuka honey, in addition, milk chocolate, along with just a dash of gunpowder.
The taste of the product is more fruits. However, this time dried with an indication of ginger.
Then the second notes of fragrant oak, Irish breakfast tea, and orange zest mesmerize the mouth with its exquisite flavors. It is followed by soursop and nutmeg (a taste that hovers amid dried pineapple as well as overripe banana).
Thankfully, no sulfur troubles the mouth. The finish is marginally oily (for only 43%), and length is on the long end of small, however, falling short to average. A type of pepperiness swells at the end (European oak esters).
