Description:

Even though Roy is the proud picker of this cask, he is a modest man who wants to make sure that the praise extends beyond him. This liquid gold was created and kept at Loch Lomond, with special thanks due to Master Blender Michael Henry. The sale and delivery of this bottle were handled by Royal Mile Whiskies, who also provided one of the most reasonable and trouble-free purchase experiences. The exquisite reverse label artwork was done by barfly Shayla Frahm, who has now earned my desire to store a bottle backward for the first time.

I personally view this bottle as a celebration of the online whisky community because of the whole communal sense, and if that isn't a good enough reason to pop the cork and raise a glass with a friend, I've got many dry months ahead of me.

A Jeff whisky review wouldn't be complete without mentioning the appearance of the bottle. This is the first bottle of Loch Lomond that I have actually seen in person since they changed their design and added an absurdly large logo. Sincerely, I've learned to like it and now consider it to be far superior to the earlier design.

Like reading the inside of Bilbo Baggins' ring, the magnificent band of illuminating information below this conveys a deeper story. Unpeated, Natural Color, Cask Strength, and Non-Chill Filtered are proudly listed in this fact strip, which should please any whisky nerd. The year the alcohol was distilled, the number of bottles, and the cask number. It's nice to see both the Barfly insignia and the Aqvavitae logo there, as I describe in my video, which sadly has lost the audio at this time.

Marshmallows, fudge, and crunchy green apples meet you on the first whiff of a Bourbon barrel.

This is tied up with a mild aroma of freshly made spirits and a hint of hazelnuts. Drumsticks, strawberry starbursts, and sherbet lemons are all part of this pick-and-mix goodness. After a while, the emphasis shifts from sugar to fruit, with grapefruit, raspberries, and mangoes.

A Prosecco glass filled with fresh fruit, including nectarines, grapes, and raspberries. Quickly followed by dryness that makes you want to take another sip. The effervescence gradually gives way to flavors of strawberry bonbons, white chocolate, and squashes as well as an undercurrent of burnt charcoal after a few drinks. Make sure to clear your time to think about this fascinatingly lovely beast because it is really intricate and always growing.
