This is a rare piece of whisky history, Caperdonich, the long lost Speyside distillery, brought back to life in liquid form. Bottled by Duncan Taylor as part of their Octave Premium range, this 27-year-old single malt was laid down in 1992 and drawn from a specially prepared octave cask for extra depth. At natural cask strength, it’s a bold, unrepeatable expression of a distillery that will never produce again.

Duncan Taylor (Octave Premium) – Caperdonich 27 Year Old Cask Strength 1992 56% 70cl
Brand: Duncan Taylor | Category: Single Malt Scotch Whisky | ABV: 56% | Origin: Speyside, Scotland | Vol: 700ml

Tasting Profile:
Nose: Rich dried fruits, polished oak, and dark honey, with hints of tobacco and antique leather.
Palate: Powerful yet refined, revealing layers of sultanas, spiced orange, dark chocolate, and roasted nuts.
Finish: Long, warming, and complex, with lingering sherry sweetness and gentle oak spice.

Production Details:
Initially matured in oak for over two decades before being finished in a smaller octave cask, which intensifies the flavor and accelerates interaction between spirit and wood. Bottled at cask strength without chill-filtration, preserving every nuance of its aged complexity.

Perfect For:
Collectors of closed distillery malts, lovers of sherried Speyside whiskies, and those seeking a once in a lifetime dram.

Expert Notes:
Caperdonich bottlings are rare and increasingly sought after, and Duncan Taylor’s Octave series is celebrated for unlocking hidden layers of flavor through expert cask work.

Customer Reviews:
"A rich, elegant whisky from a ghost distillery, worth savoring every drop."   Stephen M.
"Powerful yet so balanced, it’s a masterclass in maturation."   Fiona L.
"One of the best Caperdonichs I’ve ever tried."   Robert H.

Interesting Fact:
Caperdonich began life as “Glen Grant No. 2” in 1898, built across the road from Glen Grant itself, before closing in 2002 and being demolished in 2010.

Serving Suggestions:
Enjoy neat to appreciate its natural power, or with a few drops of water to open up layers of fruit and spice.

Distillery Background:
Caperdonich, founded in 1898 in Rothes, Speyside, spent much of its life in the shadow of its famous neighbor Glen Grant. Known for producing a sweet, floral, and subtly fruity spirit, it was a hidden gem beloved by blenders and independent bottlers. With its closure in 2002 and demolition in 2010, surviving casks have become prized relics, making every sip a taste of whisky history.
