Description:

Chivas's first-ever blended malt is called The Ultis. In recognition of the fact that Chivas has only had five Master Blenders since the Blend was first introduced in 1909—Charles Howard, Charles Julian, Allan Baillie, Jimthe Lang, and Colin Scott—five single malts—Allt-A-Bhainne, Braeval, Strathisla, Longmorn, and Tormore—five single malts are used in the blend. The Latin words ultimate and fortis, which translate to "strength," are combined to form the name Ultis.

So much more was expected of me! On this unique occasion, the Chivas Blenders had the chance to create something extraordinary. The largest mistake they made was bottling this at 40%, but we also think the cask management could have been handled much better.

Although it's not a bad Blend and is generally well-balanced, you should anticipate that at this pricing point. However, it's also completely forgettable, which is the exact opposite of what a special event edition should be. We, as well as the Chivas Master Blenders, deserve better.

The beverage is an amber tint with orange undertones. On the nose, the delivery of the Ultis was a bit hesitant, which is the first thing we must note. We find it incomprehensible that Chivas takes such meticulous care and affection with this exquisite Blend only to bottle it at 40%. From the perspective of quality, it doesn't make sense.

Although it's still not terrible, the statement could have been much more forceful. Malt, (Dried) Fruit, Caramel, & Spices are the main sweet flavors. The sherry effect is audible but not overpowering. Between the two varieties of oak utilized for maturation, there is a good balance.

Short/Middle-Long, Bitter-Sweet, and Medium Dry describe the finish. Your impression and mouthfeel are thin because of the insufficient ABV, which ruins the majority of the fun. There are also a specific number of neutral casks included in the blend. Sweet Barley, Toffee, Vanilla, Honey, Oak Char, Sugar, Dusty Track, Mixed Dried Fruit & Nuts, Orange, Grass & Straw, Tobacco, Red Grapefruit, Leather, Pepper, Ginger, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Licorice, Mint, Cacao, Salted Caramel, and Black Espresso are among the flavors we discover.
