The Dalmore Luminary No.1 2022 Edition stands at the intersection of whisky artistry and architectural brilliance. Created in collaboration with Kengo Kuma, the world-renowned architect behind Japan’s Olympic Stadium, and Richard Paterson, The Dalmore’s legendary Master Distiller, this limited-edition release represents craftsmanship elevated to art. Inspired by light, structure, and time, it encapsulates The Dalmore’s devotion to excellence, a radiant balance of sherry richness, Highland elegance, and modern design.

Nose: Deep and inviting, with aromas of Seville orange, treacle, roasted coffee, and ripe cherries wrapped in dark chocolate and spice.Palate: Lush and velvety. Flavors of toffee, fig, and vanilla bean unfold over layers of sherry-soaked fruit, hazelnut, and gentle oak. The structure is harmonious, sweet yet grounded, complex yet effortless.Finish: Long, warm, and resonant, echoing cocoa, spice, and orange zest in a lingering symphony of flavor.
The Luminary No.1 2022 Edition was crafted using a combination of American white oak ex-bourbon casks, Gonzalez Byass Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks, and rare Scottish Tay Oak, a wood used for the first time in The Dalmore’s history. This intricate maturation reflects the collaboration’s design ethos: layers of light and texture creating depth and refinement. Bottled at 46.8% ABV, unchill-filtered to preserve natural richness.
A whisky for collectors, connoisseurs, and admirers of artistry. Perfect for moments of reflection or celebration, best enjoyed slowly to appreciate its complexity. It pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, fine cigars, or simply good company in quiet luxury.
Lauded by critics as one of the most inspired Dalmore releases of the decade, Luminary No.1 demonstrates why the distillery continues to define the pinnacle of Highland craftsmanship. It showcases a precision of blending and maturation that feels architectural in structure and emotional in delivery.
“Deep, elegant, and flawlessly balanced, Dalmore at its artistic best.” Robert F.“The aroma alone is worth the price, rich, dark, and captivating.” Melissa H.“Each sip feels like a slow unveiling of flavors, nothing rushed, everything deliberate.” Tomas G.
The collaboration with Kengo Kuma marked the first in The Dalmore’s ongoing Luminary Series, which bridges whisky-making and world-class design. Only a limited number of bottles were released, with an ultra rare accompanying “architect’s edition” auctioned at Sotheby’s to benefit V&A Dundee.
Enjoy neat in a tulip glass at room temperature. Allow the whisky to breathe for several minutes before sipping to reveal its sherry depth and oak intricacy. Adding a few drops of water can enhance the citrus and spice nuances.
Founded in 1839 on the Cromarty Firth, The Dalmore is renowned for its luxurious, sherry-influenced single malts and meticulous cask curation. Under the guidance of Master Distiller Richard Paterson, the distillery elevated whisky maturation to an art form. The Luminary No.1 continues that legacy, an edition that embodies light, balance, and brilliance, symbolizing the meeting of heritage and innovation that defines The Dalmore.
