It has a flagship bottling which is marked by the essence of butterscotch, nutmeg, toffee, cinnamon, along with cracked pepper, and with a silky caramel dash of flavors that wraps itself around all that punch and zing on the finish. 

The color of the buffalo trace is rich mahogany-colored golden brown, as bourbon should look after a maturing of a minimum of eight years in a barrel.

The aroma of the drink is really strong, like rye comes through and offers a clear note of burned cinnamon, vanilla bean, and allspice.

It tastes like rich butterscotch along with the dash of toffee note, which quickly morphs into essence on the tongue, as well as the note of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cracked pepper, probably from the presence of rye.
