It is a well-known single pot still Irish whiskey, created particularly for Mitchell & Son of Dublin by Irish Distillers at the Midleton Distillery in Cork, Ireland. Green Spot is one of the rarest remaining bonded Irish whiskeys.

More than three types of older kinds are presented like red spot, Yellow Spot, and Blue Spot. It is one of only four whiskeys specially created for and sold by a liberated wine merchant in Ireland.

In 1805, William Mitchell had commenced a confectionery as well as a bakery business on Dublin's Grafton Street. In 1887, the business extended into the spirit and wine trade at a site close to Kildare Street.

During that time, it was common in Ireland for dealers to buy distillate in abundance from whiskey distilleries and then season it themselves in their casks in bonded warehouses.

The traders had plenty of supplies of casks due to the significance of fortified wines and wine such as sherry and port. As a result, it was normal for Mitchell & Son to begin the bonded whiskey trade.

For the initial five years of maturation, half of the whiskey was matured in casks that had earlier held Oloroso and the rest of the darker sherries, along with the other half matured in casks that had held lighter finos. As a result, the blend prohibited the darker wines from overpowering the whiskey.

After five years, whiskeys from the relevant light and dark sherry casks were then vatted, collected, and permitted to age for an extra five years in neutral oak.

The aroma of the whiskey is sweet, warm, barley heavy pot still with a slight touch of butterscotch, orchard fruits, caramel, and around dried berries. A slight flavor and agave sauce come through in the direction of the end.

The heavy barley pot still has the essence of a bit lighter here than if talking about the aroma, but still very existing along with notes of caramel, dried fruit, honey-drizzled granola, spice, and honey. Nearly light elements of tangerine like citrus zest come and go.

The finish of the whiskey is amazing as it has malty and long with the essence of dark sweets, fruit, along with a touch of oak. It has a subtle balance with a warm round body as well as a smooth and silky slick texture.

Overall it is an incredibly tasty whiskey with several great characters to it. A warm sweet malty nose and taste make for something enjoyable to drink and delicious.
